MCPS considering Spring Break dates not contingent on Easter?

Anonymous
I feel like I heard a school district was going to make it so Spring Break was at the same week each year, and not occur necessarily the week Easter.

Was that a dream?

Maybe Fairfax..is.

State law requires Good Friday and Eastern Monday to be off, so MCPS is not going to change this without a change in the law.

DC is always the 3rd week of April to coincide with Emancipation Day, its been that way for a bunch of years now

Fairfax did that a couple years ago, and it was a mess. Teachers who didn't live in Fairfax got screwed, having to teach when their own kids were off and then off when their kids were not.

Yeah but they could have a spring break and still work those two days into the calendar as holidays. I wish it was more consistent on the calendar.
