Three mystery meetings on the PCSB calendar

The PCSB is having three closed meetings with a single agenda item "Deliberate upon School Year 2024 - 25 Charter Reviews. One occurred yesterday, there is another scheduled for Monday and another for Wednesday.

Historically they don't hold meetings with such short notice unless something bad is going on, especially closed meetings, and charter review/renewal meetings have been open rather than closed. What is going on?

I don’t know that there is something unusually bad going on. In the past, there was a longer timeline to get reviews done - starting in November or so and going through the spring. They now have to get through many reviews starting late February through the spring. There are clearly struggling schools. Even if none are in closure danger (though there should be), there are conditions to be debated and crafted by the board.

But why are the meetings closed to the public? And why are they adding meetings with just a few day's notice?

The list of schools to be reviewed has been known for years. And it's been evident on the FAR and Accountability Scores and CAPE scores and enrollment data that schools are struggling. It's not like any of that data is brand new.
