My child got a SWW interview! Advice for preparing?

Anonymous
We are thrilled they got an interview. Does anyone have any advice for preparing for the interview and essay writing? Are you able to post the interview guidance that was given last year? Thank you!

No email for us. It was an outside chance.

None for us either -- but thought our chances were better -- is this all the emails? Are they done?

The school didn't give you guidance?

Has anyone gotten a no yet?

Is it alphabetical? We’re also in the 2nd half.

First half. No email

I'm not sure if notices are going out alphabetically, but our last name is in the W's and we received an invitation to interview.

Guys, I think we missed it.

I think more might come tomorrow and all will be sent by Friday. My guess is that those with the highest scores are getting the first invites and it will proceed from there. I could be wrong, though. They could be sending by reference number or by ward. Who knows? What is clear is that we'll all know one way or the other by Friday.

OP, sorry most of these responses haven't addressed your question!

My kid served as an interviewer in 11th grade. FWIW, I was surprised when DC told me that one of the things applicants are evaluated on is whether their responses reflect SWW values or mission or somesuch. So make sure to take a look at the school's "About" page!

Two years ago, they sent out a mass email informing of non-selection to interview.

Not OP. Thanks for this. Very helpful (and kind).

So my kid did well on the interview but ended up choosing Banneker.

Experience was

You wait outside a room for a five to ten minute interview with only a couple of questions.

The question my kid got was basically tell us about a book you read recently and break down what you liked/didn't about it.

Then 10 minutes later, you're done.

Kid thought the point was to be able to have a reasonable thesis, show you're intellectually curious, and communicative.
