Sunny- show with Rashida Jones?

I just finished it. This was one of the weirdest shows I have watched in a long time. I still can’t figure out if I liked it. Mystery, mob, robots, missing kid…it’s so nuts. And walks an awkward line between comedy and drama.
Curious what others thought of it

I watched two episodes but couldn’t get into it. Which is weird because I usually like quirky and I’m definitely a japanophile. I like Rashida Jones too. But it wasn’t compelling enough.

Never heard of it, but I like Rashida Jones so I'm going to try it.

I like Rashida Jones and I like quirky but that show just did not work for me. I wish I had just given up on it.

I wanted to like it and was even going to recommend it to my nephew, who had lived in Japan. But by the end of the second episode it was just too strange.

It was a slog for me. I love Rashida Jones and Sunny was endearing, but I felt like I was missing a lot of context. I’m not extremely knowledgeable about Japanese culture so there was probably quite a bit going over my head.

I liked it! I vacationed in Japan two years ago so it was taking me back in some way...

yeah, it's weird, but I liked that it was a nice tight 8 or 9 episodes, you got answers to everything.

I liked it ok but it seemed like it sort of fell apart towards the end (Lost syndrome??)

I liked it but agree it was weird. There’s a second season coming I’d guess? It’s like Severance in that it takes place in a time/place that is close to our own but with a few key differences that make it very different. I think that’s more disorienting than true sci fi stuff. And they both are filmed in that sort of flat way with minimal sets which also somehow ends up feeling disorienting.
It’s not a Ted Lasso type watch, that’s for sure!
