Dental X Rays when TTC

Anonymous
I was wondering if it is safe to have dental x-rays when TTC. My RE told me to expect to ovulate late this week (we are doing timed intercourse this month due to a cyst that I had from the drugs) and I forgot to ask him this question. I have a dental appointment Wednesday and at this appointment I am due for x-rays. I have had a little pain in one tooth over the last week, so it would probably be good to have the dentist see what is going on there. However, I don't want to do anything to jeopardize my egg quality either. I had a MC last year, so I am very very careful. Does anyone have any advice on this? Should I just tell my dentist that I will have to skip x-rays this time?

Talk to your dentist about it. I think that because it's before you ovulate you're probably fine. I was supposed to get dental x-rays while I was two months pregnant, and the dentist told me it would be fine, but I didn't have any problems, so he decided to hold off till the next appointment.

My doc used two lead sheets over my abdomen just to be sure. I think you'll be alright.

When I thought I may have been pregnant, I had a previously scheduled root canal. I told the dentist, and like the PP said, he made sure to cover my abdomen w/ the lead, but said it should be fine. I consulted my ob/gyn as well, and she confirmed.
