Anyone know what’s happening. Got the following notice:
James Hubert Blake: URGENT: Good afternoon Bengals, We are going into a shelter in place effective now, and instruction may continue as scheduled. However, we are restricting all hallway passes to limit hallway activity. We are monitoring a situation and will update you with more information when we are all clear. Thank you and be well. | Well, well. Let's see what is revealed. I bet nothing. Hopefully Blake insiders give us the real story, cause MCPS won't. |
| Some kind of weapon was seen. Not clear what. |

Just heard that there was a threat by a student to shoot up the school at 2:15. So they locked down, brought in police
And dogs, did some searches, isolated potential problem to one classroom. I heard no actual violence but kids were shaken up a bit. |
WOW. I wonder if the community letter will have this kind of detail. |
| It did not. It said a student wrote a threat and out of an abundance of caution …. Same old generic community letter every time. |

Here’s what the letter said:
I am writing to inform you about a safety-related incident that occurred today at James Hubert Blake High School. We received a report from a teacher that a student anonymously wrote a message during a warm up activity that was a threat regarding the safety of our school. Our school staff immediately contacted the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD), who arrived promptly and worked in close collaboration with our leadership team to investigate the situation. After a thorough investigation, which necessitated student searches for that particular class, it was determined that there was no weapon or imminent danger. Out of an abundance of caution, we enacted a shelter-in-place protocol to support the police investigation and ensure the safety of all students and staff. I want to assure you that we take all threats to our school community seriously and respond with urgency. |
