The agenda says "Deliberate upon School Year 2024-25 Charter Reviews" and it will be a closed session. Anyone know what's up?

Finally they realize they need to make closure decisions before the MSDC deadline. At least I hope they do

Wow that's a huge list.

Maybe they're taking stock of how many closures the numbers point to, and considering what happens if they actually close that many schools in a single year. Because this year has a big group including many of the lowest rated.

My read on potential closures, just going by FAR and accountability scores mainly, is:

Capital Village
Girls Global
I Dream
Social Justice
Children's Guild
Maybe Howard (or conditions)
Maybe Bethune (or conditions)

And then next year,
Hope Community
IDEA
LEARN
SSMA
Rocketship (one or two campuses)

Closed? wtf?

Spill the tea.

I haven't a clue! The agenda doesn't say much. But it's during the daytime and on such short notice, I have to think something bad is going on.

Paul has a tiny enrollment on a giant campus in a neighborhood with overcrowded DCPS. I, for one, would like that building back in the DCPS inventory.

Maybe they're going to kick some of their reviews to next year, since there are so many.

NP and I was just thinking about that today. They could create another middle or high school.

Calm yourselves, Paul is not doing anywhere near badly enough to be closed-- its accountability scores are well above average. And it's not on the financial monitoring list either.

Bumping this, anyone know what went down?

Actually it looks like the next two meetings are closed meetings with the same agenda-- Feb 24 and Feb 26. Clearly something weird is going on.

Hope and IDEA are in this year’s review cycle. Aren’t they? Or are they being postponed?
