We will be traveling with our teens so want something on the beach but close to town as well Any favorites? |
Budget? |
Ritz Dorado of course. |
Keep in mind the beaches are not great in main PR and often the water is too rough to swim. Many don’t seem to know this and are surprised it doesn’t look like Turks and Caicos when they arrive. Just FYI. |
This is the first time I've heard it mentioned on this board! Of course. |
Ritz is nice, but way out of our budget, so we stayed at the residence inn next door. It’s a new hotel and was pretty nice. There’s also a courtyard isla verde. |
Heard good things about the Hyatt Ziva as well. |
There is no Ziva in PR. It’s a Regency. |
We stayed at El Conquistador a few weeks ago and LOVED it |
We stayed at Wyndham Rio Mar which is about 40 minutes outside the city so maybe too far for you but my kids liked it. It’s very close to el junque. I think El Conquistador is about 30 minutes because it’s sort of out at the end of a road.
Some of the beaches near San Juan get airplane noise so that’s one trade off and the beaches get more mixed reviews. |
You must not come here often. |
Ditto the El Conquistador—there a year ago and loved the setting and pools. For beach access you need to take a private water shuttle to an island (10 minutes) but in a way made the experience more special. Never felt too crowded as its sprawling |
