I am out of the loop somehow this year. I’ve seen Anora and liked it, and A Real Pain and thought it was weak.
Is there something I really really should watch before March 2? |
A Complete Unknown (Bob Dylan biopic) Conclave The Room Next Door (really a celebration of life and genuine friendship rather than glorifying euthanasia) Dune 2 Oscar’s movies with good reviews that I have not watched I can’t bring myself to watch The Brutalist given that it’s 3.5 hour long. But it has great reviews. I also can’t bring myself to watch Babyface given the subject matter and having a son that age - but it also has great reviews. |
Thank you so much, PP! I actually support euthanasia so the topic won’t be a problem. I’ll skip Dune 2 but otherwise will look into everything you listed! And, how could I forget about the biopic! |
Also if you like dark comedies - Companion is great. Not nominated this year as it recently came out but hopefully will get nominated for next year. I'm Still Here is a 2024 Brazilian drama film about a family who endure a military dictatorship in the 1970s. The film is based on Marcelo Rubens Paiva's memoir. It is nominated for three Academy Awards, including best picture and best actress (Torres) who is phenomenal. So well done if you don’t mind subtitles. |
