Nicest small luxury resort within 250 miles

| We have a big anniversary in early June and I’m looking for a luxury hotel or resort within a 4 hour drive or so of the DC area. Prefer to avoid NYC hotels and prefer a more rural experience for this event. When we travel alone we tend to go to higher end places (Little Nell in Aspen, etc.) but need to stay close this time. What would you suggest? |

What do you want to do? How long will you stay? Like the Inn at Little Washington is great if you want to go, have dinner, spend the night and maybe go hike the next day. But I’m not sure it would be good to hang out for much longer.
If you want to have a bunch of resort activities, other choices like the greenbrier would be better. Etc. |
