Do you delete pics from your computer after creating backup?

My laptop has been shutting down unexpectedly. I'm worried it'll stop working so I'm backing up all our pictures (copying them to the external hard drive). I also have most of them on snapfish.

Should I delete all the pics off the computer? What do you with all the files that you have a back-up of?

I don't. The point of having a back up is having the pics in two places. That way, if your computer crashes, you have them on a CD (or jump drive, or w/e). BUT, the back-up isn't fail-safe, so I have them on my computer also.

Before I get rid of my old computer, I delete them, though.

We do, but my DH didn't do the back up right so when our computer hard drive died we lost all the photos from my son's first year. They are on Snapfish, but we don't have our own digital copies of them.

I'm sorry. I think you can order a CD with all the pictures from snapfish if you'd like a digital copy.
