medela pump.. forgot to bring valves to work!

Anonymous
will it still work without the valve?
Anonymous
do you mean the membranes (the white flaps)? No, it wont work without those.

Maybe you can run out and get them during the work day? If you are downtown, I think the washington breasfeeding center on K st may have them.

OP: the valve and membrane (yellow piece). So annoying! Yea, I will go to the BF'ing center at lunch but will have to find a way to sterilize it too.
Anonymous
Breastfeeding Center definitely has them, and they will courier them to you if necessary. (Obviously, you pay for the couriering - but worth it if you can't get there yourself.) They are located at 2141 K St - can take Circulator there.

Gar!! I forgot my entire tupperware of shield/connector/valve. Guess I'll be running home at lunch time today. I hate it when I do this!!

Sterilizing: if you don't have access to a microwave (to use the steam sterilizing bags), you can let stuff sit in very hot water (like from the hot-water tap on an office coffee maker).

If this happens regularly, I might invest in a "spare set" and some microwavable bags. BTW, you can also use hot water and soap. Let them dry out on some paper towels in your office.

If you are willing, you could also just run to CVS and buy an Avent hand held pump.

I forgot parts one day & the Breastfeeding Center couriered them over. Well worth the cost.

OP here: I have 4 sets just took them all home over the weekend and forgot to pack everythign up correctly this morning! i was able to run over to the bf'ing center.. they're such a great resource! thanks to all for responding.

I hate when I do that! I ended up buying a spare set, which it sounds like you have. I keep a set at the office with the microwavable bags. I also keep two extra bottles on the sides of the pump in case I forget those too.
