I’m looking for a Christian preschool program for 3 & 4 year olds within a reasonable drive from the Hyattsville/College Park area. Denomination isn't super important, we are Protestant/non-Denom household but are looking at the Catholic programs as well. We would just like faith/Jesus to be part of the daily discussion or acknowledged in some form, versus a church-affiliated program that is fully secular.
I have started looking around, but I would really love feedback/personal experiences from families whose child has actually attended a school |
St. Jerome’s in Hyattsville has a pre-school/child care center. |
St Jerome Academy is a great program if you like Montessori and definitely incorporates faith, but it has a long waitlist and preference to Catholics so I wouldn't count on getting in there. It's also not easy to be accepted as a 4yo unless you are coming from a different Montessori program. The St Jerome Childcare Center is easier to get into at that age and is well regarded, but I don't know much about it or how much it incorporates Christianity. Several of the kids in my son's class went there though and they do prepare the kids well for kindergarten.
I have several friends whose kids go to St Matthew's in Hyattsville and they like it. It seems to be a very standard/traditional preschool program with daycare elements like a summer option and full day care available. The one complaint I do hear is that they don't go outside very much. |
