This is gonna be interesting. I say that because the Federal Acquisiton Regulation (FAR) is so archaic and unnecessarily complex at over a thousand pages in its paper version. This is the one thing that needs to be redone from the ground up, but not by 19-year old hackers. Rather than taking an axe to random shit, he should have lifted up the hood and did a deep dive into WHY the bureaucratic processes are the way they are. The FAR is a prime example. |
So basically anyone but Elon |
This. Agree it could use reform. But not by someone whose main interest is reforming to permit the government to award all contacts to his own companies. |
My guess is a LOT of the procurement process could be automated. |
Oh gosh, how I would welcome a new version of government procurement rules! As a federal contractor I can tell you quite honestly that the rules do not result in the best product for the American people. Also contractors are not making giant margins contrary to popular belief here. And it is fair and American that businesses can perform work at a fair profit. In my mind that’s roughly 10%. That is darn hard to do with the current rules |
Cite? Nearly everything in it is required by various laws congress has passed over the years. If he tries to change it without congress he’ll be locked in litigation for years. |
I’m sure he is looking for an easy way to get that government teat straight up into his drugged-up mouth. Just another immigrant taker stealing our taxpayer dollars! |
Um, have you seen some of the shit that he’s doing right now? |
Good. 2,000 pages of bureacratic spaghetti that cost tax payers immensely. |
Then democrats should have reformed it when they were in office. But of course they love the FAR as a jobs program. In fact, they were all about status quo. |
Hahah. Are you crazy. Major contractors are making ridiculous margins. Particular those getting contracts from Defense. Why do you think these billionaires are so willing to be involved in Government. It is not because they care about the folks on this forum. Some of ya’ll really do be drinking the koolaide. Not only are they making margins, they then become publicly traded companies and many of those smaller companies, guess what they are actually subsidiaries or off branches of the larger ones. |
The biggest problem with Elon is that he’s taken reasonable ideas where maybe the administration does need extra flexibility and costing them with dictator dust. There’s a difference between moving quickly and snipping some red tape and completely ignoring the whole legal framework for our society. |
They aren't actually trying to do anything that would make the government more efficient. They aren't looking at the work. They only care about making the headcount smaller. |
Do you think this is the biggest problem? Do you think that firing the feds responsible for the US nuclear stockpile and hours later realizing oh shit let’s see if we can contact them and get then back, is just ignoring the legal framework? Thousands have just been fired from CDC, NIH and FDA, including people with lots of experience who were probationary only because got a promotion or changed position, not inexperienced kids just our of college. These are all people who do critical work. This is not just ignoring the legal framework, is dealing almost a death blow to critically important agencies. If they fired half of FAA airolaney would be grounded or would start falling tomorrow so the damage would be immediately evident. With these agencies the damage is similarly bad but people dont feel it right away so they dont understand . |
Ketamine and cocaine are expensive!! Poor Elon. |
