Just wondering if anyone knows if the schools factor this in when determining who is in pool or if it's simply the top 10% at the school. |
Yes |
How do you know? I am asking because I know this part of the process is so opaque and I wondered if my child's scores really were not top 10% because I know him to be quite advanced. |
Entire TJ admissions selection is a secret process. Why is TJHSST admissions office under Cheif Equity officer? |
Just top 10% in the building using nnat and Cogat. Best was your child scores and where do they go to school?
Out of pool kids get in slll the time |
No. The individual race/ethnicity of students Iis not a factor when determining the pool for each school. It’s simply the top 10%. |
In Pool is the the top 10% by pure score. It is race blind. It doesn't necessarily matter that much, since any kid not in the pool can be referred by the parents or teachers.
Selection into AAP is not race blind. Race, languages spoken in the home, and FARMS status are all included in the packet viewed by the committee. |
Who did admissions for TJ report into before equity officer? Presume if FCPS decides to change anything, they will just change name back to whatever was before. |
Hi Asra |
Not directly. There is some discretion available through principal placement, but racial bias is systemic not explicit. |
Kinda answering my own question, found first equity officer was Karla Bruce in 2018 so would think FCPS argument would be that this role is not just a new “woke movement” position, but one in place since 2018. |
I requested my DC packet that was submitted from the school. The cover pages lists race and also lists if a student is an ELL or if any other language was on their original application to FCPS. |
No, in-pool scores are the top 10% of scores at a particular school. |
What else is in packet? Just grades? Do you get to see scores for the PSE and other essays? |
IGNORE ABOVE- I posted to wrong spot but don’t know how to delete |
