As a poor white rural boy. You think Yale would have accepted him otherwise? |
The rules for me are not the same as the rules for thee. |
How was that DEI? You do know that DEI is a new thing - 2021 ish. JD Vance was not in Yale in 2021. |
Yo, wake up: white, rural, low-income Appalachia?? That’s covered in DEI philosophy. DEI isn’t new. |
Veteran preference is also DEI. He got that too. Hypocrite. |
And there we have a nice display of ignorance...Does anyone else truly believe that the concepts of diversity, equity, and inclusion are only a few years old?! That's the problem with reducing everything to soundbites - we're left with too many people who don't even know what they're complaining about. It's DEI! It's woke! All these crazy new ideas are to blame for everything I don't like in my life! And it's only been around since 2021! I just can't. |
I assume JD Vance had a high GPA in undergrad, which is likely why Yale accepted him plus veterans preference, which is DEI. |
Service to your country is not DEI. If anything that is earning your way. |
Again, this shows how much you do not know, embarrassingly so. Are you aware that veterans are being disproportionately affected by the Trump layoffs? If not, that’s because the private sector doesn’t hire vets at the same rate as the Feds do. DH ran a government agency. They spent a lot of time on vet recruitment. Colleges also place an emphasis on recruiting vets as students - they provide a perspective they would like in the classroom. |
+1 |
It’s not being selected based on merit. |
+1 Who benefited the most from the millions spent on “DEI” at UMichigan? Poor, white kids from rural Michigan. |
Vance was a veteran. Vets = DEI. What the govt trades off for your service. Has been true for decades |
Pp - I should also add, that if you are referring to his undergrad I would hope he got in on merit. Ohio State is a public university, so it’s not exactly a high bar… |
Most Ivy League schools want students from all fifty states. If we’re getting rid of “diversity” and base decisions exclusively on “merit” (whatever that is), then most Ivy students will be from blue states — CA, NY, NJ, MA. Do you MAGAs believe that geographical diversity is also something that should be abolished? If not, why not? |
