DS is in 7th. He had a math test on Monday but came home after with a 103 fever. So took the test with the fever. I have no idea about the grade but is it worth letting the teacher know?
I know what the official retake policy is but don't know if teachers ever make exceptions on the max score of 80%? Or if there is zero wiggle room regardless of the reason. Would you do anything? |
I think I would wait until you see what he received as a grade. |
Knowing this teacher that will be in 3 months 😆 |
I'd use it as a learning lesson for my kid. A person with 103 fever really doesn't feel well. Go to the nurse and don't take the test. If you take the test, that's the grade. |
I swear my kids are anti school nurse. They both came home obviously very sick. They just thought they were tired 😫 |
Agree. Lesson learned.
Were they not sick in the morning? Very strange for them BOTH to develop midday fevers while feeling fine in the morning… |
They were fine in the morning. Well at least they didnt act sick. Normal Monday grumpiness. They both had Flu A. It seems from most people I talk to it comes on fast and we went to a party this wkend and pretty much everyone at the party got the flu this week 🤧 vaccinated too! Sucks, they basically spent the entire week in bed. Anyway, i would never send my kids to school knowing they were sick. I am not a monster |
Is this a math class for HS credit? Will it appear on their transcript? (I don't know VA rules)
If not, then I'd accept that part of the point of middle school is that you can make dumb mistakes like refusing to go to the nurse, and learn from them. |
This is a great opportunity for you to stand back and let your son decide. If the grade is poor and he thinks he could do better, HE can ask his teacher for the retake. If he isn’t interested, don’t push it but let him learn the lesson. This is not the moment I would insert myself. |
Yes, for HS credit. |
Relax, you don’t even know the grade yet. No, don’t ask for an exception to the policy when you haven’t seen the grade. |
