No Early Closure Tuesday, Feb 11

Posted on MCPS website:
MCPS has been closely monitoring the incoming winter storm. Forecasts predict snow to begin early this afternoon (Tuesday), with heavier snowfall and road accumulation not expected until early this evening. Temperatures are forecast to remain above freezing; treated roads and school surfaces are predicted to remain passable. During afternoon dismissal, it will be snowing, but icy and unsafe conditions are not expected until late into the evening. Bus transportation may be delayed on some routes because we have instructed drivers to exercise caution when driving during snow conditions that may temporarily impede visibility.

I hope this turns out to be the right decision. Even Fed Govt is instructing their employees to leave no later than 2 pm.

I am not one to be mad about decisions but I’m annoyed this time.

There was never a reason to close early. No one should be surprised.

Hopefully the roads will hold in the 4-5pm zone for the late ESes

Right call in my opinion. Kudos MCPS for doing what is right, not what is easy and lazy.

So what if there is a little snow on the ground. Drive slowly.
