People who conduct whole side conversations while you are on a call with them.

I have 2 friends that do this. I dont understand why they dont just say can i call you back, or just wait until they've finished the call to have an entire other conversation with their spouse or child. These aren't even urgent conversations. Anyone else have this experience? It's so odd to me.

I don't know any people like this, unless you mean conversations that take like 15-30 seconds? I can wait that long.

I used to when my kids were little. I'd say call me back when you can talk and hang up. I have no time for that. If you can't talk that's fine but I'm not listening to you carry on a conversation with someone else.

I will also hang up if you're chewing in my ear.

Yes, even worse I think is when they put you on hold to answer another call instead of just hanging up and calling you back, and then proceed to talk on the other line for a really long time. I just hang up.

I'd say frequent side conversations lasting at least a minute each.

One of my best friends does this. She has massive ADHD. Sometimes, I'll tell her to call me back when she can focus on my part of the conversation. My SIL does this all the time, and did it especially when my nephew and niece were little. It was so infuriating; I'd be sitting there IN PERSON sometimes while she carried on with her kids. I found that to be unbearably obnoxious.

PP you replied to. Yes, that's a little too multitasking for my liking. I would just say "it seems like you're busy" and leave the call.

I have a friend who does this. Not an entire side conversation but interrupts our conversation multiple times to talk to her teenagers!!!! I have finally started saying, oh call me back when you can. That has helped.

I have friends who do this. I could tolerate it if they said to me first “hold on a sec, I need to answer Larla’s question” but instead they just start talking to Larla when I am mid sentence. Eating while on the phone is another pet peeve.
