I’d like to see all three, but only have seven or eight days, not counting travel days to/from the US. Should I just focus on mainland Portugal or Azores or can I have a worthwhile trip with at least some of both?
I would probably travel in September. |
8 days would be perfect for Lisbon and Porto and Coimbra in between. I loved all three but have not been to the Azores. I would use the train between cities and fly into Lisbon and out of Porto….or vice versa. |
OP here. Thanks. The Azores look amazing, but I worry that’s cramming too much into the trip. I like the train idea. |
The azores is made up of 9 islands. We spent 8 days visiting just 2 of the islands. Highly recommend |
which 2? |
My cuz and I went last September and spent three days in Lisbon, took the train to Porto and spent two days in Porto. Were going to do a quick stop in Coimbra on the way back down to Lisbon, but the wildfires derailed much of the northern portion. We flew to Sao Miguel from Lisbon the night we arrived back in Lisbon from Porto and got into Sao Miguel around 1 AM. We were then on Sao Miguel for the next three full days. We could have spent more time in all of these locations, but we definitely had some solid time in each location and did not feel crazy rushed in any location. |
