It is equal to Harvard , is it believable?

| Yes. Harvard isn't great at CS and it doesn't have to be because MIT is there. UMD has that sweet Google money |
|
That seems to be the consensus from multiple CS rankings. USNWR seems to be more generous with Harvard than others. Not familiar with any others.

UMD is better than Harvard and has been for a while. |
|
Very much so. Should be higher, if we're being honest.
And not for nothing, but I think it's on its way to being a top 30 school, period, maybe by the end of the decade. |
| UMD College Park is a very strong school and people are finally taking notice. CS has been competitive for a long time. |
| UMD is very good at math, engineering, and CS. They are all intertwined. UMD is a great school for STEM. No, I am not an alumni. |

I’d look at best undergraduate computer science programs |
|
Sure. But I don't think that many (any?) professors, graduate students, or undergraduates would choose UMD over Harvard.
Prestige is very sticky, and Harvard resources flow even to its weak spots. |
| All rankings are subjective and crap. |
+1 |
| NSA. |
Most people interested in CS or engineering don't even bother applying to Harvard. It's not where the talent or energy is in these fields. |
UMD is great but of course it is not equal to Harvard or any ivy/elite based on the things that matter most: the talent of the peers and the success of the grads into the top level of tech/cs |
