Any idea about FCPS Transfer Renewal?

My DC is a transfer from base school to Chantilly. How can I renew this for the next school year? The county website says I will receive an email stating if we are eligible for renewal or not. No email received yet, but the renewal portal opens on Feb 15.

How did you transfer into Chantilly? We were told it was not possible, even for languages.

What exactly is your question? You have the information you need. The portal opens in over a week. Just wait for the email.

Principals are reviewing all current transfers right now and letting the SIA know which students will be eligible or not. Once they have that, the email will go out.

Principals are reviewing all current transfers right now and letting the SIA know which students will be eligible or not. Once they have that, the email will go out.

How is eligibility determined? It doesn't make sense to me that applications for new transfers open before the ones for existing ones do. Doesn't it make better sense to deal with a known commodity (a student that is already in your school) before reviewing applications for new kids?

This is a good question. My neighbor who is a teacher in FCPS couldn't even get her child transferred into Chantilly even when she said it was a hardship due to being a single parent with no local family and she needed her child closer to the school where she works. The county told her Chantilly is closed to transfers.

No one ever said new transfer requests open before existing ones. OP is asking about renewals. That is what principals are reviewing. They’re looking at the kids who have already transferred in and are reviewing whether or not they can request a renewal. If a kid has been there as a transfer this current year and they’ve been late everyday or they’ve had discipline issues, the principal can deny their option to renew.

No one has looked at any first time transfer requests.

No one ever said new transfer requests open before existing ones. OP is asking about renewals. That is what principals are reviewing. They’re looking at the kids who have already transferred in and are reviewing whether or not they can request a renewal. New transfer requests opened on Saturday (Feb 1). DC’s transfer was approved last week, so yes they’re processing new transfers.

To those wondering how to transfer to Tilly - mine just got a language transfer. They were not open for new transfers last year.
