Being reported from several people I know that his cronies have been at NIH.

This is all so stupid. If DOGE is auditing IT systems in order to modernize legacy systems and promote interoperability, or if DOGE is auditing departments for inefficiency, one or two days in an agency is not enough time to do any of these things. T

hey are doing quick in-and-out trips, terrorizing federal employees and energizing spectators. Are these window-dressing? For Trump and the base? What is the point of any of this?

The point is terror and cruelty to erode trust in the govt and for career civil servants to leave and new ones not to come. Then they can dismantle corporate and other regulations and companies can do what they want. Oh and cut govt costs so they can pass tax cuts.

PP. DoD has the powerful lobbyists and will be a good barometer of musk’s aims. Musk’s federal handouts don’t come from USAID and USAID was investigating him. Musk has a different relationship with DoD and will be interesting to see the results of his “audit.”

No, that's not what they're doing.

They're feeding each department's financial data into AI software to analyze so they can make cuts of things Trump/Elon/Russ Vought don't like.

Sadly I wouldn’t be surprised if NIH is dramatically downsized and relocated to some small town in flyover country.

The current NIH campus could be redeveloped into a resort community.

I've seen zero evidence whatsoever that it has anything to do with modernization or interoperability.

Yes, exactly. Seriously inexperienced, unqualified and unvetted people barely in their 20s are being put in charge of major national systems and trillion dollar budgets, with the only merit being their political orientation. That's clear discrimination against much more experienced and qualified people.
