I'll be delivering at Sibley and would like to bring a sweet treat for the nursing / hospital staff as a token of thanks. However, I've read that some hospitals have strict policies about accepting treats. Can anyone shed light onto Sibley's policy, please? More broadly, do you have any experience or advice about what to bring?
To be on the safe side, I've been planning to bring a box of individually wrapped "bundtlets" from Nothing Bundt Cakes, but I'd prefer to do the bite-sized (and more affordable) "bundtinis," which do not come in individually sealed packaging, if Sibley's policy allows! |
You're overthinking this - just bring whatever and let them deal with it however they want. They'll appreciate the gesture. |
Bring in things that are sealed and they will deal with cutting them up. That seems more hygienic. |
I bought gifts for all my nurses at Sibley all my deliveries - small gift boxes and yes sealed - but if you want to give a collective gift - sealed food options is always welcomed according to my nurse friends. |
Isn't it a gift enough that they get to meet your baby? |
Lol, please! You sound totally nuts saying that. |
Is this sarcasm? |
How many people actually do this? Curious if this is now expected....I didn't with my first ( nor do I get treats from patients at my job). I've sent gift baskets to doctors after extraordinary care ( like graduating fertility clinic after 4 years, or radiologist squeezing me in urgently so I didn't have to cancel ivf) |
I plan to bring cash and give each of them $100 every time they check on me. |
I am an RN though not L and D. Well, your generous spirit is kind. Please get out of the habit of saying that you would like to bring treats for educated, seasoned professional professionals
In case anybody thinks that I’m being touchy: does it sound right to your ears to say that you’d like to bring your divorce attorney and staff some “treats”? How about your colorectal surgeon, would you like to bring him some “treats”? How about your CPA? no? It’s insidious so almost all of you reading this wont recognize the issue. What But it’s a little bit demeaning that the public wants to bring treats and — God forbid — tips to only certain professionals, who historically were women and not paid well. |
TBH my CPA encourages baked goods and whiskey during tax season. |
Honestly, a thank you note(s) are a lot more effective b/c it goes into their file and can be a boost for them when it comes time for bonuses, raises, yearly reviews, etc.
Also, their shifts change a lot. So your bundle cakes might not even be enjoyed to a group of nurses that weren't even there that day you delivered. |
Are you the Nothing Bundt Cakes troll? The poster who suggests Bundtinis as a response to every thread? Kind of like the Norma Kamali troll? |
I think the original post is sarcasm. Or are we now tipping dental hygienists and gifting cakes to the dude who takes my blood?? That’s…weird. |
As a teacher, I totally get this. I will say that I still sent food deliveries for the staff who took care of me during very scary surgeries. I just wanted them to know their kindness and care was appreciated. |
