Hi: Can anyone share their experience with Virginia Virtual PE Grade 9?
Was it asynchronous? Are kids required to log in each day? Our kid already has a sports camp scheduled one week of either session, which we cannot cancel. Wondering how that might work out -- like can a kid work ahead and submit information about the camps (it's a sports camp) to cover the physical activity part of that week in the course. Thanks in advance! |
Not required to login at a certain time each day, but they are required to do assignments at some point each day. Also, they need to turn in proof of exercise each day either from a Fitbit, sports coach, etc.. |
It’s my understanding that the teacher will let you do the work ahead of time if you let them know. |
You don’t need to log in you just need to turn in assignments. Yes I think you can work ahead. You need to turn in an activity log signed by the coach at the end of every week. I think he could do that from camp. |
He will need some kind of fitness tracker for the exercise portion - my son had to turn in a weekly log with screenshots from his tracker. His sports camp will count if the coach signs off. Classwork was pretty easy, my son worked a few days ahead so that he always had wiggle room - just had to submit assignments by due dates. |
When do students enroll for this summer course? |
In the spring. You have to work through your counselor at school. Eventually there is a form on the APS website you fill out (it's not active yet). APS has to enroll your kid in the course. Their action then gets Virtual Virginia to send you an email and jumpstart the whole process. |
Starting March 2. |
My now 9th grader did it over the summer. He never once logged in live. The teacher was great about letting him do work early and even gave him an extension once - as long as he emailed in advance to say he was out of town at camp. I imagine at a sports camp he can just have his camp coach/counselor sign the form to say he did the activity. |
