Portugal or Puerto Rico?

Taking a 7 day trip for my milestone birthday with one good friend. I’m torn between San Juan being closer and not feeling like we have to do a tour, versus the amazing itineraries I’ve seen for Lisbon and Porto. Any thoughts?

We don’t know you or what you like to do.

What do you like to do? What do you want this trip to be?

Budget?

You’re kidding, right? Portugal in a heartbeat.

Indulge me. Why? More culture, better scenery, nicer people?

Budget not a factor. I like to go to museums, lie on the beach, eat good food and drink good wine. Relax with some culture thrown in.

I think the wine makes Portugal the easy call.

Portugal. You don't need to do a tour. I've been there twice. People are friendly and helpful.
I suggest going south to Lagos for beaches, cure towns. I might move to Portugal one day.

DP. I think the people are equally nice but the food, culture, architecture and history more interesting in Portugal. And the wine!
