How do you pronounce this name?
LORE-a or LAW-ra? |
Lore-a. I am an early GenX and went to school with many Lauras. They all pronounce their name Lore-a. Actually, many of them went by Lori but you get the idea. |
Lore-a
I would pronounce Lara Law-ra |
This is not going to make any sense, but somewhere in between.
I feel like "LAH-ra" is a different name -- Lara. And "LORE-ah" is a little harsh. So I think I say it a little softer, with a little "ah" sound. I do love this name. |
Americans would pronounce this Lore-a. the other way if you're not american |
It's my sister's name and pronounced Law-ra like Lauren |
Lar (like Larlo)- uh (like up) |
Huh. To me Lauren is LOR-en, not LAW-ren. Knew lots of them growing up and that's how they all pronounced it. |
I have a Lara (Lah-ra) and except for East Europeans everyone says either Lore-ah or Law-rah. |
I think it must be regional. My mother is British and we grew up in the south. |
Also it's not as heavily pronounced as LAW ra- it's softer. It's also fairly common, except in the tristate, to pronounce it saying the lau with the au as aw. If the name is Lora, spell it that way. |
That sound varies regionally. In some places it’s distinct from Lara, in others not. |
My sister is a Laura. We all say her name "Lore-uh" |
Either way. |
Lah rah |
