Do all Elementary students take same MAP M/R test?

Anonymous
I understand it is adaptive tests, but i also hear that all elementary students take the same test but personalized based on their answer. for instance, 3rd grader A scores 235 and 5th grader B score 235. What is the difference?

Does this mean the student A challenges same as B, and student B performs same as A.

I'm sure but i believe they take the same test except compact math students.

The test starts in third grade. There are different versions of the test at different points. For instance the 5th grade compacted math students take the 6th grade math test. There is a test for a Math (MAP-M)and a test for Reading(MAP-R)

Yes, the score reflects what they know across all grades.

Student A and Student B are performing at the same level.

"it is adaptive tests, "
yes

"all elementary students take the same test but personalized based on their answer."

Every single test question is separately personalized for each student based on previous answers.

It switches between 2nd and 3rd grade and between 5th and 6th grade. (I think some 5th graders in compacted math take the 6th grade version for math part of the year?)

I heard there’s an elementary school in Potomac that lets their 2nd graders take the test that contains pre-algebra and algebra problems

It's strange to let 2nd graders take MAP-M instead of MAP-P. But if they indeed took MAP-M, then yes, pre-algebra and easy algebra problems are included in the bank (2nd - 6th content).

My elder DC used to take algebra in 5th grade, and his MAP-M test was switched to 7th-12th content.
