| Did Blair Magent admitted students info session share important info not shared at fall info session? We had a schedule conflict. |
| DH and DC were there, I weren't. I got an impression that they went over 9th grade schedule (similar to what base school did a few weeks ago) and students and parents could also ask specific questions about placement that it probably didn't make sense to ask at the open house. |
| It does give your kid a chance to meet the other admits and see if they know anyone — they group the kids by home middle school for their portion. |
No it's not made for that at all. Your placement questions should be asked privately. The students got a chance to rotate into a few classrooms and meet several teachers. They went into more depth about magnet classes. There were also tons of students around and you could stop any one of them and ask about academics, clubs and the general vibe of the program. I was very impressed by the students who were polite and well-spoken and seemed to love their school and program. |
We saw many Blair student girls speaking, 0 boys speaking. Strange. One boy was playing cello and another boy was with him. |
Two male Blair students led our group. |
Whatever. A lot of kids are interested in placement for functions, languages and music. |
How can I put this politely? You are an idiot. Really. |
| I thought it was useful, but not something you will not make up in other ways. Sorry you were not able to come. They promised to create a post and Q&A |

We saw many Blair student girls speaking, 0 boys speaking. Strange. One boy was playing cello and another boy was with him. I noticed that as well and assumed that: 1) girls may have volunteered more, and 2) they may have wanted to signal to the gfirls and parents of girls that girls do thrive there. This question was asked in my group and the students reported that most of their classes are well-balanced. |
| Are there shadow days possible? |
Last year, shadow days could be arranged by reaching out to the magnet coordinator. The shadow day was very helpful and was what convinced my kid to accept the offer. |

This question was asked in my group and the students reported that most of their classes are well-balanced. I asked a student about this and they told me the teachers picked girls as speakers for whatever reason. My (male) student was able to find boy volunteers to speak with informally. |
Yes we were told they are doing shadow days. |
What an odd comment. The first kids that welcomed us when we entered the school were boys and yes they were speaking obviously. |
