Desperately need counselor/therapist recs who take BlueCross

Anonymous
Suffering from prenatal depression - struggling very badly due to things that have happened throughout nearly the entire pregnancy (currently 8 months).

I suffered from PPD after my first but never dealt with depression *during* depression.

Virtual visits are a must as I can't get out much and also trying to move as little as possible (yeah right with small kids in the house).

Finances are tight so it's almost necessary to have insurance cover the visits, otherwise I wouldn't get to do too many sessions if I have to pay out-of-pocket. Currently have BlueCross.

I appreciate any recommendations.

OP here.

Apologies on my initial post - I meant to say I've never dealt with depression *during* pregnancy, not during depression 🤦🏼‍♀️

I'm so sorry you are going through this. It will get better and you will get through this. Thinking of you.

I've been seeing this therapist (virtually) and she has been wonderful. She isn't in network but can provide a superbill. She also has a free consultation option and some sliding scale options so maybe could work something out for you.

Psychology today is also a great resource for finding a therapist and allows you to search by insurance and availability, among other things.

Best of luck, OP, and take care.

I've finally realized I've probably been suffering from some degree of depression for a decade now, but with two kids and one more due in a month + so many things from life... there's no more time to put it off. The postpartum phase won't do me any favors.

Remember to look into your (or your spouse) work’s EAP options too as that can have counselor availability and not require you to jump through the insurance hoops.

This. You can enter your insurance, what you want to see them for, and your zip code. Up will pop a list of profiles for everyone in the network. Some won't be taking new patients, email ALL of the others who's profile you think you will click with. Some won't get back to you, others will - see one that will

Medstar Georgetown has a perinatal mental health clinic. They do telehealth and they are good about getting you in relatively quickly because they know these issues are time sensitive. https://www.medstarhealth.org/services/womens-mental-health
