Middle school grades and high school classes

My daughter is getting a C in Algebra and B in Spanish and then the rest are As. She's an 8th grader. The teacher suggested she should retake Algebra. Is that grade definitely on our high school transcript? I thought I heard that you could delete one middle school grade from the GPA? Any advice? thanks. She hates math but does have a tutor.

You can’t delete it but it won’t be factored in to GPA unless it helps.

This is my understanding as well. If you retake a class, the higher of the grades will be counted towards the GPA.

If you retake a class and earn a higher grade, the counselor can fill out a form to remove the earlier class from the transcript.

They might be suggesting retaking it because she does not have sufficient understanding to go on to the higher levels in math.
