Hey fellow parents!
So, my son was invited to Poolesville SMCS, Poolesville GE, and RM IB. Me and my husband were conflicted about which program we should send him too. For context, my son loves everything science, and absolutely adores engineering. He has also always been a fan of nature and wildlife since he was a toddler. Your son should be choosing, not you.
I’ve had kids in all 3 programs- they are all fine. Important considerations also include commute time and clubs and activities of interest to your DS. RM hands down has a much larger selection of activities and where they offer the “same” thing RM’s clubs are bigger and better run. (e.g. drama) |

| Based on interests I would rule out RMIB. I'd do the open house and have him choose between SMCS and Global. |
| Cross off RMIB unless he enjoys writing. He sounds like he’d be a good fit for global but go to open house and let him decided. sMCS is a long day. |
OP (original poster) here. Thanks for the advice! Look, what matters to me is just the fact my kid is happy wherever he is. Commute time is absolutely negligible in this situation, cause both schools are the same distance from our house. |
I agree with this, especially since you are the same distance from both schools. Your kid's interests align well for both Poolesville programs. My kids' experience is with RMIB, and it is fantastic, but RM is also our neighborhood school. That was the determining factor them. One considered GE for a moment, and the other considered Blair SMCS for a minute, but the commute time was too much for them. |
