A third of parents considered suicide due to childcare stress.

That's terrible.
Don't drink the kool aid. Only have as many kids as you can personally care for, emotionally and financially. It's ok if the number is none or one. |
Where is this money going? Did daycare workers get a 50% raise? |
Cmon this is the knee jerk reactions that don't help people. Daycare is 5 years minimum in most areas. Before and aftercare at least 9/10 years. If you've already had kids and then childcare goes up 50% this not helpful. Let's stop being so surface level.. Why is it going up when number of children is decreasing? What is driving the cost increase? How do we help for kids and parents that already exist. |
So procreation is only a right of the wealthy? I would push hard against that world view. It is unethical. |
I can't access the article but can't imagine that survey is accurate. That # of parents are not seriously contemplating something that would leave their own kids even more in the lurch. |
So, what are we doing to support parents? We are eliminating flexible work policies, remote work policies, we are providing no subsidies, this country should be ashamed of itself for the level of wealth it has and subsequent help it provides working families. Instead we are making sure that parents are spending 2-3 hours/day on commute so they are totally stressed out. For the ones who will say "but I did it so why can't you", I say f*** you!
Great job America! |
In the future AI robots will provide all kinds of care to us. So, I am very happy that there are jobs that AI and robots can do that will not cut into human jobs. |
Blame the GOP. |
That is why we have poor illegal immigrants coming to this country. |
This is an insane take. First off, non-wealthy people should be able to have kids and you’re a ghoul for suggesting otherwise. Second off, I had a kid before the pandemic and I pay double - literally double - the per hour rate for a nanny from before and after pandemic. Your “don’t have kids if you can’t afford them” can’t even attempt to keep up with the inflation of the past four years. |
Um...where have you been the last few decades. People are having fewer kids, and partly because it costs a fortune. |
Is that an ideal situation? |
. It’s that Puritan work ethic this country was founded on - work your hands to the bone and anything that makes you happy (or life easier) is inherently evil. Explains a lot about modern US public policy. |
Boo hoo i cant afford 3 kids.
Well boo hoo i cant afford 3 houses. |
