For how long will DCA be closed?

Anyone have an educated guess as to when DCA will reopen? By Saturday? Sunday? Not until next week?

Tomorrow, 5 am. Keep in touch with your airline.

Op here, thanks, helpful to hear someone else’s estimate. I was thinking it would likely reopen by the weekend, but wanted to check to see if that seemed unrealistic.

If you look at the arrivals and departures page, it looks like they expect the airport to resume flights around noon today.

Flights before noon are canceled.

Flights after noon are still on the schedule.

Anyone know what traffic intoned is like after the crash, specifically traffic via 66?

They announced that the airport will re-open at 11 am.

I am honestly shocked that they are reopening the airport as they are still pulling bodies out of the water.

Life has to go on. Do you expect thousands of people’s plans to be disrupted?

The water recovery does not interfere with the airport operations. Those boats are not in the flight paths.

I have a direct view of the river and airport from my office in DC. There were no helicopters or air support at 9am. It was all recovery watercraft. Tbh, the airspace hasn't been this quiet in my recent memory.

One has nothing to do with the other. The recovery efforts are not at the airport which needs to keep operating.

Not sure if this is a troll, but it was closed after a jet collided with a helicopter on Wednesday with almost 70 dead total and no survivors.
