| So I’m just trying to figure out if something is possible - my DC was missing an assignment graded for several weeks and it showed as missing on parent Vue. She emailed the teacher. Looking at Parent Vue, the assignment seems to have disappeared. I know sometimes things don’t sync so maybe it is still being updated, but is it also possible that the teacher didn’t grade it and just removed it from the calculation? |
| Sure. Was it just practice and prep, 10% of 10% = 1% of the grade? |
| DC has had teachers remove assignments for all students from the quarter when they didn't have time to grade. If there was an issue with your child's assignment like it was lost it would probably have been marked excused and not have completely disappeared. |
| My kids used that excuse all the time when they didn't do the work. |
Np.. what? Who gives a damn? The kid did the work, they get the credit. Such low expectations |
Not just a lack of time, but as a teacher is grading if they see that a specific assignment is tanking many kids’ grades, they might remove it. |
| Kids should not know what is grades and what is not. That way they have to do everything and their work on all will get them better grades on each. Tired of kids being lazy entitled idiots as mcps lowers its standards. Also for gosh sakes take the violent kids out of school and get them mental help. Making teachers keep them with no support borderlines neglect. |
| There are certain teachers who can not figure out how to remove an assignment from gradebook for an assignment that they said was not going to be included in the quarter grade. If assignment AAA is in gradebook but not graded, it could affect the quarter grade for that class. The amount of followup a student needs to do for a class around this issue is beyond ridiculous. |
your kid must have the same teacher as ours |
| Does student ask counselor if teacher doesn't figure out how to add or remove a grade from gradebook? |
That’s not how it works. Blanks do not negatively impact grades. Only a Z0 or Z50 will. |
You cannot leave a blank in synergy and submit it, you have to convert it to excused, 0 or 50%, there are people who check and get on teachers for having blanks in their gradebooks |
Who are those people? Students have already asked thr teacher by email and in person. Is the teacher's boss checking? Counselor? Assistant Principal? |
Completely wrong. |
Maybe that happens at your school. I’ve never had a staff member ask me about a blank after I finalize. Or perhaps it’s a case of people who have an excessive number of blanks. I’ve never had more than two total in any given marking period. Usually when I left open the possibility that a kid would contact me at the 11th hour with the missing work. |
