Licensure - Out of the Country

Hello Everyone,

I am a new teacher from out of the country, and am looking for what my next steps should be for obtaining a full-time teaching license. I have a level 1 provisional, which expires in May.

I've looked online at the standard website, but I don't see any information about what it takes to get to the next step in the process.

Can anyone please help me?

A little more info is needed to get you the right info.

Where is your current certification from? And where did you complete your teacher training program?

You also don’t need the license before applying or even starting to teach in DC. Once you are hired and in the DCPS system you will get some assistance with how to apply if that’s helpful.

If you teach at a charter you don't need any certification

Hi! I did this.
1) you don't need a license for charters
2) if you would still like to pursue a license, google osse and licensure out of the country. There is a website explaining it. Basically get your training verified by an independent company and take the Praxis test, then apply for the license.
