Is Liverpool and Manchester worth a visit? Already been to London and would like to visit up north.
They only seem to be an hour away from each other. Is a day in each enough? |
For Liverpool, if you want to see ALL of the Beatles' sights, you'd need two days. You might also need to reserve in advance, if you want to see John Lennon's house You can have a fun experience even with just one day, of course. You might want to add another day or half day for the maritime museums. It's a vibrant, musical city, and definitely lower income than southern England.
You could easily spend several days in Manchester, but a day trip is fun. The industrial museum is great. You can also visit the cathedral, stadiums etc. Ride the trams. |
Would you pick these over Edinburgh? |
Loved the Hope Street Hotel in Liverpool. Met the Liverpool mayor and his wife there a couple years ago. We were on our way to Anfield to see Liverpool play Manchester City -- a huge game for the locals. We were wearing Liverpool gear and the mayor commented (nicely) that he was a fan of Everton -- the other team premier league team in Liverpool -- but wished us a nice time in Liverpool. |
No, I would pick Edinburgh. But I like beautiful/ancient cities and am less into gritty/industrial. |
