The same could be said of NYC or LA. There are lots of reasons cities create successful people. |
boston is a fraction the size of either of those cities, tho. |
Some if them hook their friends up with jobs |
Excellent public education + private schools
Really, best in the country. |
Not all, but many, of these celebrities grew up with wealthy, super professional parents that could support their child enough to explore acting and create arts for long enough without them feeling pressure to support themselves and establish careers otherwise. I don’t know the background of everyone on this list, but BJ Novak, John krasinski, Mindy kaling, Jenny slate, Conan, Steve carrell, and Seth Meyers would all be considered as growing up rich. |
I think they just like to make movies/tv/talk about Boston so you're familiar with it. A lot of celebrities (probably) are from Seattle but I couldn't name more than 2. |
We are just a little bit cooler in Boston, what can I say?
|
Adam Sandler is from Brooklyn, and then New Hampshire, and Sarah Silverman is also from New Hampshire.
Mindy Kaling is from Cambridge, MA and Amy Poehler is from Burlington. Seth Meyers is from Illinois, Michigan and New Hampshire. |
It’s interesting to just google your favorite entertainers and see how many of them come from money. It makes sense because they have the resources to be out there auditioning, networking, working on their craft without working or working minimally. |
I know BJ Novak personally. He came from an UMC household and there seemed to be some family money in the mix; his dad was a well-regarded ghost author for celebrities. He went to Newton HS with Krasinski. I know him from the Harvard circles. There were literally like 15 kids from Newton HS that he knew growing up at Harvard with him. The amount of kids that Newton HS sends to Harvard is nuts. |
Kaling went to ES in Wellesley, MA. Cambridge, Newton, Wellesley, & Burlington are all metro Boston. NH less so of course but some southern NH towns actually do have parents who commute to Boston jobs. |
I think it is a highly educated area with great public schools and private ones as well, and of course excellent universities and center for healthcare and technology.
Naturally I feel those people would have access to many resources and translate that to other fields. |
Steve Carell was middle-class, not wealthy. I know his family. |
Do you know which elementary school she went to in Wellesley? |
