Hard decision for my teen -- Wheaton Biomed, Engineering or CAP Blair

Anonymous
My teen got into Wheaton's two programs -- Biomed & Engineering but also Blair CAP. Blair is our home school and is closer and would be w/friends.

Any insight into the programs would be helpful.

These are very different - are they more interested in STEM or Humanities? CAP has tons of group projects, very interdisciplinary within Humanities - electives are drama, journalism, media, photography, etc. Are they more excited about that or STEM electives?

All of those programs have a huge number of required classes. Your child will be miserable if they have to take classes all day long that they dislike. It'll really change their HS experience.

Read PP's question carefully and have your child answer.

We are facing the exact same decision., same considerations. My child is interested in a bunch of things, so they are all appealing in their own way (well, maybe not as much CAP...).

Looking at the list of classes, there aren't actually many classes specific to the area, at least at Wheaton. They take math, English, history, WL, etc just like everyone else, it seems.

CAP student can take some magnet math/science classes.

Wheaton doesn't have communication arts program to sneak into.
