I heard recently about one that had long lines and does not take reservations. As I cannot recall the name, would love to hear from you your favorite places. Ruling out the chains. Tks! |
So sad. I was going to recommend Penelope but I just looked and apparently they closed. |
Ny state is big.
Even nyc, which I think you mean, is big. Which neighborhoods interest you? |
balthazars, sarabeths, spotted pig |
What about California? Any good brunch spots there? Need to be cheap, good, and not crowded. |
Great suggestions. I eat breakfast at Balthazar about 1x/month. On the UWS: Jacob's Pickle and Maison Pickle for something a little different. |
Jacob’s Pickle was great. Love Balthazar and Jack’s Wife Freda |
Friedmans has several NYCkcatkons so I don’t know if that makes it a chain but it was pretty solid for brunch.
Are you including dim sum as brunch? |
Good Enough to Eat on the Upper West Side |
Sarabeth’s has been around forever but it never gets old. Great for a group brunch.

Bubby’s - in Tribeca |
Thank you all! |
Agree. |
I love Bubby's! Did Sarabeth's way too many times in NYC, it got tired. Good scones though. Also like Cookshop, Jacob's Pickles, Dim Sum Palace, Russ & Daughters, Raoul's. |
Clinton St Baking Company for pancakes, Shopsins, La Bonbonniere for a slightly less exalted experience. |
