Hey there! Anyone have an idea how I might find someone to help with this? Actually don't think we need a professional chef - more like someone who can make some healthy basics for the kids and keep the fridge stocked with fruit and veggies. Appreciate any ideas or referrals! |
How old are your kids? Can they peel and chop? By about five they should be able to do that with most produce. |
a local teenager could do this. |
Pick one day to do it yourself. If you can't DIY, only buy chopped. Btw, just because you have a full fridge of chopped F&Veggies doesn't necessarily mean your kids are going to eat them. For grocery shopping, there's shoppers who can do this and deliver to you, or do the shopping and you pick up the groceries curbside. |
Unless your kids literally eat everything, by the time you instruct someone on all this stuff, you realize it may be easier and cheaper just to order pre-chopped and premade stuff yourself via instacart and such... |
What works for me is to make most of lunch and dinner for the day first thing in the morning.
After dinner, I also do the food prep for next day - soaking beans, peeling garlic, kneading dough, cutting veggies, chopping onions, setting yogurt. DH and kids do the dishes and clean the kitchen. I am spending around 1 and a half hours in kitchen cooking, bu |

OP, you're making your life too hard. That is, if you can't do this yourself. You and your family. |
Do you have an apple slicer? They make prepping apples so much easier.
These days you can buy a lot of fruits and veggies already cut up and ready-to-eat from the grocery store. They’re a little more expensive than buying produce that hasn’t been prepped, but I think it would still be considerably leas than hiring someone. You might like a meal prep company where you select from their menu items and they send you everything you need to make their recipes. |
I buy precut and also do salad packs with dressing and mixings already included and that’s saved time and waste because we usually eat the whole salad over two meals. |
It would be a nice job for an aspiring chef neighbor kid. Get air tight containers on Amazon. Have kid chop and sort by type of vegetables/fruits. |
Hmm. OP sounds like a mom who works outside the home, may be in a really demanding job. I think I have some resources that could assist. OP - What are you thinking about pay?

I do all food prep during and after dinner (for next day) while my kids set the table/clean up and sweep floor. No issues. |
You all are judging her for not doing it herself when you have no idea of the circumstances. Let's just answer her question. I think I have someone who can do exactly what she wants. |
