Maryland Matters - the only really good source of local news?

Anonymous
Since the Post is going down the drain, the Baltimore Sun was bought by Sinclair, and Bethesda Beat/Moco360/whatever else it wants to call itself was also bought out by developers, I've found Maryland Matters the best source for really high-quality local journalism. I hope Northern Virginia has something similar. The state of journalism across the country is really suffering, and I tend to turn to independent media overall, but then that also risks us forming our own echo chambers. But anyways, there's a need to just know what is going on locally and in the state, and MM does a good job. I've heard the Baltimore Banner is pretty good too, and would consider subscribing though I'm not sure what their DC-suburb coverage is like.

Too small to be relevant. They have like 14 reporters.

I like both Maryland Matters and Baltimore Banner.
For DC, there's also The 51st.

What about Bethesda magazine

They are really good at covering state issues, but the coverage becomes sparser for things that happen in Montgomery County. I still subscribe though!

Maryland Matter is good. Bethesda Magazine was owned by a developer but now it’s owned by a bigger publisher. Moco show is good for retail or food or light stuff and also press releases. Moderately MoCo is the best for schools and politics. WTOP and Maryland matters with a little wash post for me is my daily cup’ o Joe. Moco today on instagram is also good.

Another vote for Baltimore Banner. They have a lot of experienced reporters from the Capital and the Sun.
Not great for local MoCo/DC news but excellent for statewide coverage
