There is a thick layer of salt covering our school's parking lots and sidewalks. I think it has gotten to a point where they are mistaking the white salt layer for ice, so they're dumping a bunch more on it every day.
I'm glad to see they're trying, but they should train their staff better. |

You don't like when school is closed.
You don't like when they overdo it when trying to keep places ice free. Okay. |
You don't need to lay salt down on salt. That they're doing that indicates they haven't been trained at all on snow and ice removal. Maybe that's why they struggle so much with an inch or two of snow. |
| Yep. Many places not just school. |

Some of you won’t be happy if you don’t have something to complain about.

I live in New England and this often happens at our school. I think in many places facilities teams are simply working really hard and really fast and not thinking much about stuff like this.
Get over it. |
True, it's not unique to schools, but our elementary school is certainly the cost extreme example I've seen. I was just watching them spready salt by hand. I'm pretty sure they don't realize the white powder on the ground is salt, not snow. It was kind of funny until I realized that means they don't have any idea what they're doing. |
Amusing people from "New England" are on the mcps forum. |
