What does this mean for those, like the non-profit I work for, who provide services via local funds that are from federal funds? |
If they don't reverse this quickly, the whole economy is going to collapse. Infrastructure projects, hospitals, lunch programs at school, farmijg subsidies, WIC, student loan disbursements. The damage of this can't be understated. |
Does this apply to NIH grants? |
Agree, there is way more at stake here then people realize. |
Wow, no way this can actually happen. Right? |
Yes, but they already paused NIH grants last week. I know someone who's a cancer researcher who's had her whole project thrown into disarray. |
I assume there will be Impoundment Act lawsuits and TROs this morning. |
The memo gets basic facts about government spending wrong. These people are morons. Just some of the most objectively stupid people you could ever find. |
I work at the NIH and all spending has been paused. If this pause is indefinite then it will affect vendors located in both blue states and red states. |
The keep talking about spending related to the "Green New Deal" which was a proposed piece of legislation that floated around but never passed. It's completely and totally insane. |
I’m at an NGO and it’s pretty bad for us unless it gets resolved quickly. The dirty word “climate” is in a few of our grants which makes me even more nervous. |
This happens all the time, new admins come in and review everything. I don’t think it’s something to get worked up about. |
When has this particular action ever happened before? |
People only learn through suffering sadly - unfair and cruel as it is. |
No it doesn’t. Give an example of another time a new administration turned off funding to this extent. |
