Mid year testing results - aps

Anyone know when we should expect to have access?

It usually takes 2-3 weeks at least. They haven't even done make ups yet for kids who were sick last week.

Our school hasn't finished testing all grade levels- the window is open through next week so probably 2 weeks after that.

No prediction on date, but don’t expect anything resembling an organized rollout of data, appropriately advanced notice, or explanation of scores.

Scores will be available at or before March parent teacher conferences.

Parents should get the results about two weeks after the window ends. The window ends on Friday, February 7.

Scores are up for my kids.

I'm not clear on how these tests relate to middle school math placement. My third grader keeps scoring in the 94-96th percentile for math. Would she need to do better in fifth grade to test into sixth grade prealgebra?

Last year they needed a 236+ on the spring math MAP, a 126+ CogAT, and a 550+ SOL math score.

Your student has likely already taken the CogAT so you should have that score.

Thanks, our scores are up too.

Thank you, that's helpful! It's crazy that they use a second grade CogAT test for this, but good to know where the bar is.

This past year most kids didn't have a CogAt score because they were in 2nd grade during COVID closures. I'm not sure how strict APS is in using the CogAt score or if it's more of a tie breaker.

last year it seemed like a straight cut off based off scores, but with the missing cogat score it was harder to draw that line. and it may differ based on middle school

They didn’t factor cogat into my kid’s (current 7th grader) placement, those areas were on the letter but blank. He also got in with a slightly lower MI score because he dropped from MOY (where he met the benchmark) to EOY. SOL was perfect score.

It’s supposed to be decided by central office, so it shouldn’t vary by school. But our elementary math coach told me it was based on percentiles, rather than a raw score cutoff.
