7 day summer vacation with teens

Anonymous
Ideas for a family vacation that is 7 days (including travel) at the end of July? We are not interested in DE beaches. Is there somewhere we could fly and enjoy 4 non-travel days that would be worth the price? Leaving from IAD or DCA so hoping for a direct flight.

Too broad. There are thousands of places you could fly to from the DMV. We need to know what kind of weather and activities you want FFS.

What does this mean to you?

Direct to Colorado. Do some hiking and rafting. Both Steamboat and Vail are cool in summer.

Fly into Denver, see some sights there, and then head up to Estes Park. Enroll your kids in a few days of the local YMCA teen adventures if they are younger teens.

Or fly to Grand Rapids, drive north, and rent a vrbo closer to to the lake and dunes.

Or fly to San Francisco and stay downtown. Rides bikes across the bridge, go to Muir Woods, see the performers/sights on the pier, stop by the murals, go see a comedy/music/magic show.

Need a general budget for the week including flight and hotels at least.

Fly to Bangor, rent a car and drive to MDI. Lots of hiking, views, tours, ice cream, improv show, oceanarium, etc

Fly to Toronto, stay downtown and rent bikes to get around the city

It's not a direct flight, but going to Rapid City, SD would be fun with all of the hiking and animal watching. The downtown has some cool restaurants and a bunch of statues of presidents to find. You could also drive over to the Badlands, if you wish.

Don’t know how old your teens are but my suggestions give the teens some independent time:

Hilton Head: rent a condo/townhouse. Kids can bike to pools, beach ice cream, play tennis, golf.

Disney: staying onsite offers opportunities to split up for parks

Cruise to Caribbean

Boston: take a day trip to MV or drive up to RI

Iceland
