Recent Feedback on Lyles-Crouch

Anonymous
Am curious if there are any current or recent parents that have feedback on Lyles-Crouch?

It seems people have had good feedback on this school over the years, but I know the longtime principal left a few years ago. How do people feel about the new principal? How is the Core Knowledge curriculum? I would really like this for my kids (both pre-school age) but a lot seems to depend on the commitment to implementing it (their description on their site seems mixed, with some good CK descriptions combined with not great things like balanced literacy). Any concerns about upcoming redistricting or the J-H decision?

I’m aware of all of the issues with ACPS but am curious about feedback on the school itself. Thanks!

We've been at LC for 7 years and are very happy with the new principal. She was thrown a lot of curveballs her first year as principal and handled them with grace and professionalism. She has a warmth and friendliness that my kids really like. She was assistant principal at MVCS before coming to LCTA so had experience within ACPS. Really can't say enough good things about her.

I can't speak too much to the CK curriculum except that my kids have done well with it, and it seems to work. The layering year after year, and tying themes throughout subjects does seem to reinforce concepts.

No clue what will happen with the JH change. I think it isn't supposed to take effect until 2033ish? My kids will be long gone from elementary by then.
