| Does anyone know what that scent is? I think it’s reminding me of a perfume or something, but the internet just says vague things like citrus and clean. |
| Call the number on the package and ask them what the fragrances are. |
Perhaps it has come to this. I wonder who’s job it is to answer the comments and questions hotline for an arthritis cream. |
Huh? It's probably not the first time someone has asked them the question. |

One of my favorite uses of ChatGPT is analyzing ingredient lists in cosmetics. Didn’t hit pay dirt on this one but here are its suggestions:
While the exact formulation of the fragrance in Voltaren is proprietary, the best guess would be a combination of synthetic or natural compounds designed to create a mild, neutral scent that masks the chemical smell of the active ingredient, diclofenac. Common fragrance components in medicinal products like Voltaren may include: • Light floral notes (like linalool or geraniol, often derived from lavender or geranium). • Herbal or citrusy notes (such as limonene, found in citrus oils). • Soothing or “clean” scents (like benzyl alcohol or coumarin, often used to create a mild, powdery aroma). These compounds are selected for being generally well-tolerated and unlikely to cause irritation. So… maybe try mixing lavender/geranium with a citrus oil and a bit of cinnamon for the coumarin. Fun! |
| You could also call poison control and ask them. They will have full ingredients list. |
| Yeah, I got that (or something similar) from AI. Left me still wondering. I was hoping someone would think of a lotion or perfume that’s a close match. It definitely reminds me of something. |
I’ve never called a product hotline, so it would be a first for me. |
Well you have to do it now OP, the entire internet is waiting on an answer. |
| It’s not bengay |
| Great. Now I have to buy Voltaren to see what it smells like. |
I doubt that. |
| I just went and smelled my Voltaren, and it made me think of how much I dislike lavender. So I’m gonna say lavender. |
Op here - I agree. It’s definitely lavender-ish. You need to actually apply it to get the scent I’m talking about (not just smell it in the tube), but medicinal lavender is what I’ve landed on. |
| I adore the smell of Ben Gay and Seabreeze - one whiff of either and I’m back in high school trying out for cheerleading. Memories. |
