How bad is it to miss one of the AAU tryouts

We have travel plans President’s Day weekend and tryouts for several teams came out and they are ALL that weekend.

Would you adjust/cancel travel plans for this?

How good is your son/daughter? Serious question. If you player is competing on the same level as the other 80%, they should attend all tryouts to get seen as much as possible. If they are in the top 20% and that is obvious, then probably okay after talking to the coach.

It depends on how good your kid is. But aren’t tryouts typically that weekend?

This is it. The coaches will take a standout who missed a try out. But when picking among the group of kids that are all the same level and on the bubble they will take the kid who made all the tryouts.

There are very few open spots on these teams.

Surely there are some not doing tryouts that weekend.
