| And stop wearing athletic wear every day. I am attempting to put on pants and a real shirt and some make up every day. Instead of walking around in leggings and a sweatshirt. Anybody else? WFH has ended and people are going to be more dressed up every day. I feel like a shlub. |
| Not me. Wearing workout wear makes it 90% more likely I will actually work out. I have to remove as many barriers I can LOL |
yup-a friend calls me and spontaneously asks me to take a walk and i’m always ready to go. I feel when i’m dressed to always be active it’s actually better for me health wise. Because i’m always dressed for the occasion. Op-I get the reasoning for this but I feel like “real clothes” are overrated. And i’m thankful that comfort has become mainstream. Obviously dressing for work is different but if im not going to an office im not wearing anything but athleisure. |
| OP, I am with you. I feel better about the day overall when I go into the office and put on real clothing. I’ve started dressing up a bit more. I like it and while I still may wear athleisure on the weekends, I think it’s a good goal to dress in real clothing more often. |

I can take a walk wearing jeans. I’ve even gone to the gym in regular clothes. Not dress up clothes though.
I’d prefer to wear athletic clothes at the gym. But I’m not going to let what I’m wearing stop me from exercising. |
| Not me. I still work from home in a nightgown. Getting dressed means leggings and a T-shirt. |

Yes but this is how it's been for me for all of the 15+ years I've worked from home.
Sometimes real clothes is just shorts and a top - but it's not pajamas or clothes that are effectively pajamas. I remember back in the 80s or 90s reading some advice to treat working from home as if you were in an office - and wear heels, nylons, and makeup every day. That is a step too far! But I do put on a nice top, tinted moisturizer and mascara because I just feel more together that way (and it helps on Zoom calls). I think you do what works for you, in short. |
| I tried this but had a major set back. Bought my daughter some wide leg sweatpants with an elastic waste that were a size too big and not returnable. Made the mistake of putting them on and despite being unflattering on my figure I cannot take them off. I feel physical pain when I even think about taking them off. |
| Not me. I taught at home for nearly a year and I refuse to go back to uncomfortable and non-durable clothes. |
You wear jeans and a sweater at the gym? |
While I feel better wearing real clothes, the reality is that during the work day, I move more if I am less dressed up. If I go into the office, I now wear sneakers. The difference in my step count per day when I wear sneakers and heels is significant. |
NP- I took a pilates class the other day with a woman who came in straight from work wearing a skirt and sweater, tights and heeled boots. She quickly peeled off the boots and skirt which revealed what I thought were tights were actually leggings, and pulled off her sweater to reveal a workout tank underneath. Genius! |
|
Op - I also find wearing pants that don’t have buttons has lead to me not noticing the 2-5 pounds that are sitting in my mid section. When I put my jeans on I notice if they are tighter than normal.
I already walk 12-15,000 steps a day. That hasn’t changed. |
| Quite the opposite. I have nowhere to go but for a walk or grocery store. Wearing La Viva pants or similar and a t-shirt. Not into leggings. |
Would it really take you that long to change out of real clothes and into athletic wear for a walk? This would take me two minutes. Heck, I can be ready to go to the gym for a swim in less than five minutes. |
